What you need to do 1st
When you have an insurable loss, you should immediately contact your insurance carrier. They will issue you a claim number. DON’T LOOSE IT!
An adjuster from the carrier will contact you within a few days to make an appointment to examine the damage. (It’s helpful to have your Public Adjuster meet with them at your home).
Your policy states that it's Your Duty to document the damage.
Take as many pictures as possible of your damage. Try to document the model and serial numbers of TV’s, stereo equipment, computers, electronic games, appliances, (etc.)
If you have a mortgage, you need to contact them ASAP. They will instruct you on the procedure when you have a loss.
If you receive a settlement, your mortgage company will be listed on the payment. They may require that you endorse the check and send it to them. On smaller losses, they may simply endorse the check and send it back to you. On larger losses, the mortgage company may hold the check. As you proceed with repairs, you will need to contact them so they can send out an inspector to document the progress. They will then release payments based on the inspector’s findings.
The burden is on you to prove your loss.
You can choose to sit back and let your carrier send their adjusters out to assess your damage, but whose interest are they really protecting?
If you own a home or business and you incurred damage, you need to have someone on your side.
As your personal Insurance Claims Adjuster, Steven J. Larena will be your legal representative.
With over 30 years experience with insurance repairs, I’m not only knowledgeable with the costs, but also the necessary methods required to make the repairs correctly, not just as cheaply as possible.
I’ll thoroughly document your damage, and as your legal representative, present your claim and negotiate with your insurance carrier for a favorable settlement. My involvement from the beginning gives me the opportunity to work with the company adjuster rather than against them. This usually results in a more thorough and quicker settlement.
Not Satisfied with your current settlement?
If you have already tried to settle your own loss, or if the company has decided how much you should get and it's not enough, give is a call.
We will re-evaluate your claim and recover what you should need to settle your loss properly.
